Legal Notice — These Terms & Conditions are issued by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM). All references to “we,” “our,” or “the Organiser” relate to JAKIM acting as host of the Global Halal Summit 2025 (GHaS). Participation in GHaS constitutes acceptance of the following provisions governed by the laws of Malaysia.1. Acceptance of Terms
1. General Terms (Governing Law: Contracts Act 1950 & Civil Law Act 1956)
1.1 All registrations constitute a binding agreement between the participant and JAKIM.
1.2 Attendance is confirmed only upon full payment and written acknowledgement from the Secretariat.
1.3 Participants must present the official QR code and valid identification to collect badges and event materials.
1.4 The Organiser reserves the right to amend the programme schedule or speaker lineup in accordance with Section 65 of the Contracts Act 1950 (frustration & adjustments).
2. Fees, Taxes & Payment (Governing Law: Service Tax Act 2018 & Financial Services Act 2013)
2.1 All fees are quoted in Malaysian Ringgit (MYR); payments in Malaysian Ringgit (MYR) will be converted at prevailing Bank Negara Malaysia exchange rates on the day of invoicing.
2.2 Where applicable, a 8 % Service Tax (SST) under the Service Tax Act 2018 will be added to the invoice.
2.3 Early-Bird concessionary fees (MYR 3225) are valid from 9 July to 3 August 2025 only. Standard fees (MYR 4300) apply thereafter until 31 August 2025.
2.4 Participants are liable for all bank charges and international remittance fees.
2.5 Failure to remit the full invoiced amount (net of charges) may result in delayed confirmation or cancellation.
3. Cancellation, Substitution & Refund (Contracts Act 1950 & Consumer Protection Act 1999)
3.1 No refunds will be issued once payment is verified, in line with Section 64 of the Contracts Act 1950 (contract fulfilled upon performance).
3.2 Name substitutions are permitted without additional cost up to 7 calendar days before the event; written notice must be emailed to the Secretariat.
3.3 In the unlikely event of summit postponement or cancellation by Force Majeure (see Clause 6), participants may request fee carry-forward or refund at the Organiser’s discretion, subject to administrative charges capped at 10 %.
3.4 Refunds, if approved, will be processed in MYR via local transfer within 60 days, pursuant to the Consumer Protection Regulations (Refunds) 2012.
4. Code of Conduct & Safety (Occupational Safety & Health Act 1994 & Communications & Multimedia Act 1998)
4.1 All delegates must behave professionally and respectfully toward fellow participants, staff, and venue personnel. Harassment of any kind will not be tolerated.
4.2 Delegates must comply with venue safety protocols under the Occupational Safety & Health Act 1994.
4.3 Audio/visual recording is prohibited without prior written consent from the Organiser, in accordance with Section 43 of the Communications & Multimedia Act 1998.
4.4 The Organiser reserves the right to remove any person whose behaviour is disruptive or poses a safety risk; fees will not be refunded in such cases.
5. Data Protection (Personal Data Protection Act 2010 – PDPA)
5.1 Personal data collected will be used strictly for registration, visa facilitation, on-site management, and post-event communications.
5.2 By registering, participants consent to the processing of their data by JAKIM and authorised vendors in compliance with the PDPA 2010.
5.3 Delegates acknowledge that event sessions may be photographed or recorded; images may be used for official publicity without further notice or compensation.
6. Force Majeure
6.1 The Organiser shall not be liable for any delay, disruption, or failure to perform obligations arising from causes beyond reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, war, epidemic, governmental regulation, or national mourning.
6.2 In such circumstances, the Organiser may reschedule, relocate, or cancel the summit without incurring breach of contract, pursuant to common-law doctrine of frustration under Malaysian law.
7. Limitation of Liability
7.1 The Organiser’s total aggregate liability, whether in contract, tort (including negligence), or otherwise, shall not exceed the amount of the registration fees actually paid by the participant.
7.2 The Organiser is not responsible for loss of property, personal injury, or travel disruptions. Delegates are encouraged to obtain appropriate travel and medical insurance.
8. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
8.1 These Terms & Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Malaysia.
8.2 Any dispute arising shall be submitted to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Malaysia.
