Global Halal Summit 2025 (GHaS 2025) in Kuala Lumpur—an event purpose-built to deepen cross-border collaboration through what many officials call halal diplomacy.
As the global halal economy continues to grow, achieving estimated values in the trillions of US dollars, fostering international trust and standardization has become more important than ever. The Global Halal Summit 2025 in Kuala Lumpur provides a dedicated platform for strengthening cross-border ties—a concept often referred to as halal diplomacy.
Halal diplomacy encompasses more than trade agreements. It involves building trust in halal certification through the harmonization of regulatory frameworks, strengthening cooperation among governments, certification bodies, and businesses, and transforming halal into a tool of economic soft power.
Malaysia’s leadership in halal diplomacy is well established. JAKIM, Malaysia’s Department of Islamic Development, has accredited 88 foreign halal certifiers from 49 countries. These strategic recognitions have enabled joint manufacturing ventures, technological transfers, and greater market access for halal products.

At GHaS 2025, halal diplomacy will take center stage through four key pillars:
The Global Halal Certification Bodies Conference (HCBC), where certifiers will exchange best practices, work on harmonizing standards, and lay the foundation for mutual recognition and joint enforcement.
The International Halal Technical Capacity Development Program (IHTCDP), offering auditors technical training designed to elevate the credibility and acceptance of halal certificates worldwide.
The Regal Global Halal Talk, featuring thought leaders and dignitaries who will share insights on halal diplomacy and present case studies such as Malaysia’s collaborations with countries like China and ASEAN nations.
A Business & Trade Forum, designed as a venue for investment dialogue, trade facilitation, and advancing halal certification within diplomatic contexts—reinforcing the economic impact of unified standards.
These initiatives will benefit various stakeholders. Certifiers and regulators will see faster mutual recognition and reduced procedural redundancy. Businesses will gain improved access to markets, streamlined operations, and stronger investor confidence. Governments will benefit from soft diplomacy gains, higher halal export volumes, and increased foreign investments in key halal sectors like manufacturing, agriculture, and tourism. Consumers, in turn, will enjoy a more transparent and traceable halal supply chain.
Malaysia’s broader vision under initiatives such as the Halal Industry Masterplan 2030 aligns directly with these diplomatic efforts. These include registering halal trademarks in multiple countries, enabling foreign accreditation by JAKIM, and promoting regional joint ventures. Through GHaS 2025, Malaysia reaffirms its role as a global halal authority and demonstrates how halal certification can serve as a powerful instrument of international cooperation and economic diplomacy.
Join us in Kuala Lumpur from 16 to 18 September 2025 to explore how halal diplomacy is shaping cross-border trust, advancing trade, and driving development. This summit is not just about policy—it is about progress.
